Forty women. Over age forty. One year.
That’s the project.
I started thinking about it because I noticed something over the years. The women who come through my studio who are forty or older usually show up differently than the younger ones. Less worried about getting it right. More sure of what they actually want. They figured something out somewhere along the way, and it shows in the pictures.
So I built a project around that. Forty sessions. One year. Anyone forty or over who wants to be part of it.
At the end of the year, the work goes into a published book.
Why forty over forty
Most boudoir marketing is aimed at women in their twenties and early thirties. Bridal sessions, gift shoots, that kind of thing.
That’s fine — those clients exist. But that’s not who’s actually walking through my door most of the time.
The women I photograph most are usually forty, fifty, sometimes sixty-plus. They’ve already done the wedding. They’ve already raised the kids. They’ve already done a version of themselves that was performing for someone else. They show up to the session for different reasons, and they walk out with different pictures because of it.
This project is just a way of making that visible. Not a statement about age. Just about what the work looks like when the woman in front of the camera has already lived a real life.
How it works
A few practical things, because this isn’t a sale or a campaign:
Sessions in the project are the same as any other session at the studio. Same four hours. Same hair and makeup. Same reveal appointment. Same collections, same pricing.
What’s different is that one of your images — picked together, within whatever release tier you choose — gets included in the book at the end of the year.
Your release tier doesn’t disqualify you. If you’re “no release” or “portfolio only,” your image still goes in the book in a form that respects that — silhouette, cropped, or just left out entirely. The book is built around what each woman is comfortable with, not against it.
If you’d rather just book a regular session and skip the book entirely, that works too. Just book the regular way.
Who this is for
You don’t need a reason to be here. But most of the women who book a session like this have one.
Some are coming out of a long relationship. Some are getting into a new one. Some have spent the last twenty years being the strong one for everyone else and want to feel something different for a few hours. Some are celebrating something — a birthday, a milestone, a body that’s done a lot of work. Some are just meeting themselves for the first time.
If any of that hits, you’re probably in the right spot.
The Book
The book gets published once a year, at the end of the project.
It’s hand-bound, limited print. Every woman in the project gets a signed copy. Extra copies are available if you want one for someone close to you. The book doesn’t get sold publicly — it’s made for the women in it and the people they want to share it with.
The 2026 edition is the first one. The 2027 edition starts when this year closes out.
How to be part of it
The inquiry process is the same as any other session at the studio. Fill out the form, tell me what’s bringing you here, and we’ll talk.
If you’re forty or over and the project resonates, mention it when you fill out the form so I know to count you toward the year’s count.
